2010 Horizon Report: Trends in Technology & Education
The report is a a product from research done by members of a project called The New Media Consortium's Project. Members working on the project research the up and coming trends with technology in education. The researches came up with four key trends that will show in the next 5 years.
1. "The abundance of resources and relationships made easily accessible via the Internet is increasingly challenging us to revisit our roles as educators in sense-making, coaching, and credentialing."
2. "People expect to be able to work, learn, and study whenever and wherever they want to."
3. "The technologies we use are increasingly cloud-based, and our notions of IT support are decentralized."
4. "The work of students is increasingly seen as collaborative by nature, and there is more cross-campus collaboration between departments."

Although I have spent a minimal amount of time observing in classrooms so far I have noticed these trends, and agree that teachers must be aware of these changes as well as understand the technologies and how they can be used to prepare students for a world that essentially depends on technology, and will continue to do so. I especially have noticed the trend that explains that students are increasingly working collaboratively. since starting college, I have worked more with members of my class than I ever have. I have benefited greatly from it and really believe in working collaboratively. I have also noticed, while observing in my field experiences, that students are working collaboratively in all subjects. The teachers have the students talk about what they're reading and working on, as well has work in groups to reach a common goal.
